I DON'T WANNA GO

Hey all,
yup, you guessed it, Yours truly is leaving Martinsville and heading north.  I will be in a trip-ship with Elders Sorenson, and Hartwell in Christiansburg, VA.  This will be an interesting change.  I hope that I will get along with them and see many miracles come out of it.
Enough with the doom and gloom though.  We visited a few members, and all of them have asked me to write them, so I will be writing the Alleys and the Polands, so I should be able to have a decent letter written out for you as well. on another (kind of interesting) note Elder Fidel will be serving with my MTC companion, Elder Capener so that should be interesting.
the first half of the week we were all snowed in pretty bad, so most of the city was shut down.  That made it just a little hard to do anything especially since our car only has front wheel drive, and Tiny Carola + big hills covered in snow = NO BUENO.  you know that my emails are short and this week there is an actual reason.

The dreary month of January

Hey all,

this week has gone by so fast.  it is an amazing thing in retrospect and I have an amazing companion that helps me to stay motivated.  so this Sunday we got snow ... for about three hours, then it all melted as the weather returned to it's balmy 45 degrees.

and now for updates on the people that we are teaching.  sister alley has just been notified that she might have to go in for major surgery within the next few months so that is happening and is just gong to make things harder for her.  other than that it is an amazing thing to hear her testimony  every time we go over.

Wayne is a little bit farther out there so it is a little bit complicated when it comes to seeing him.  we have not seen him since the first lesson, but we hope to set something up this week.

now that it is colder, it is just a little bit harder to get people to answer the door, but mostly finding has stayed the same.

other than that, the only thing that I have to say is that transfers will be on thursday the 28th and I don't know anything at all about whether I am going or staying so don't ask.  I will tell y'all when I know.

see y'all next week,

No Letter, just a few pictures. Not sure why...

A picture of the snowfall they received, before it melted.

times of change (nickels, dimes, and quarters)

This was from last week.  I totally forgot to post last week!  Sorry!
hey all,
I think that I have gotten all of the Christmas packages and would like to thank everyone.
this week has been fairly interesting as we have seen many things go right, even if we had a couple go wrong.  we got four PMF (part member family) referrals, two media referrals (people who want bibles or other things like that [see 2 Nephi 29:3 to see what most of our referrals want]), and five LA (less active) referrals! so you could say that this week was pretty productive. on the other side of things,  we had been trying to contact a less active family when this week as we knocked on their door we finally got an answer... through their door... kind of angry sounding "we're atheist go away!"  so yeah there was that.  when that happens, all you can do is pray that their heart gets softened.
other than that this week was a pretty mundane knocker and talker.

strap yourselves in...

hey all,
hold on a second while I try something.... (if there are pictures then it worked ... if not ignore this and the previous sentence...) Well  this week has been fairly slow due to the new year and a lot of rejections and appointments falling through... but as the lord is willing and as we have worked our hardest we have seen two great miracles come of obedience and all of the craziness that comes from the in with the old and out with the new mentality.  the first is with sister Alley in which she has finally gotten well enough to come to church and has been coming for the past few weeks.  the other one is with a referral that we contacted on Saturday,  it was our third attempt and we could not help but feel optimistic as we pulled up to the house that was listed as their address.  we knocked and his wife opened the door.  she went and got her husband Wayne whom had asked for the bible.  we had an amazing conversation and he agreed to listen to the discussions after we had talked a little about the book of Mormon and it's purpose as another testament to and of Jesus Christ.

that is all at the moment see y'all next week
